With a drum part recorded in an elevator shaft at 3am, God of Thunder is certainly an original! Taken from the massive album Destroyer which spawned four singles, God of Thunder was written by Paul Stanley (The Star Child) and sung by Gene Simmons (The Demon). Live, this song contains a lot of the theatrics that Kiss became well known for. A bass solo complete with spitting blood, and a rising platform, and then the segue into God of Thunder.
As far as the drum part goes, although it’s simple it does require excellent timing in order not to speed up whilst playing the simple heavy quarter notes in the Intro and Solo. Also, take care with a couple of the fills in the Re-Intro as they’re a little tricky to execute. Make sure you check your stickings carefully!
